Southern Arizona Against Slavery (SAAS) is a community coalition dedicated to fighting all forms of human trafficking in Arizona and around the world.
What We Do
We believe that community education is critical in the fight against trafficking, because everyday citizens are the ones best equipped to spot and report human trafficking. SAAS provides training to various stakeholders about the basics of human trafficking, as well as how to identify and work with victims. Social service providers, attorneys, healthcare workers, law enforcement, government agencies, and community organizations all have a role to play in fighting trafficking, and the first step is awareness and education. Request a SAAS training for your organization today.
SAAS tracks key federal and state legislative issues related to human trafficking, and equips Arizonans to educate lawmakers about the issue. To stay up-to-date on current policy issues, sign up for our email newsletter and like us on Facebook.
Project Raise is an innovative and victim-centered diversion program designed to equip Tucson-area prostituted people with the resources they need to exit prostitution and sex trafficking, rather than locking them up. The program provides prostituted people with a “one-stop shop” of resources such as food, clothing, mental health services, substance abuse counseling, safe housing, and more; empowering them to exit “the life.” SAAS has been involved in Project Raise from the beginning, along with several other local agencies. The program has attracted significant media attention. Your generous donations help make this program possible.
