On January 14, 2012, Tucson will have its first-ever regional human trafficking conference. Sponsored by SAAS, the event, entitled “The Abolition Conference: Combating Modern Slavery,” will take place in the Student Union Memorial Center at the University of Arizona. With nationally-renowned speakers, informative workshops, activist art and music, and more, this is something you will not want to miss.
Keynote speakers will include Linda Smith, a former US congresswoman and the President and Founder of Shared Hope International, as well as Bradley Miles, the CEO and Executive Director of the Polaris Project. Other speakers and workshop presenters will include International Justice Mission, the Arizona League to End Regional Trafficking (ALERT), SAAS, the Phoenix Police Department Vice Squad, and at least one human trafficking survivor.
